Construction setbacks and the coronavirus pandemic delayed the move, but plans are in place for the new store to open on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, across the street from Heritage High School at 1021 Forestville Road, Suite 104, in Wake Forest.
Sole Dimensions will be one of the first tenants in the Forestville Square retail complex that will eventually be occupied by other businesses.
The total foot-care store will close its current location at the end of the day on Aug. 22. When it opens on Aug. 26 it will have a larger staff ready to serve its customers. The 3,000-square-foot space will include a showroom featuring an extended variety of brand-name shoes and a state-of-the-art lab offering on-site custom orthotics and pre-made modifications. A new treatment room is where customers can get 3-D scanned images of their feet, understand their foot type and the shoes that best fit them.
“Our newly designed, larger space will allow us to better serve children, adults and seniors.” said Certified Pedorthist and Sole Dimensions Owner Ellie Penner. “Our expanded selection will give our customers exactly what they’re looking for— comfort shoes, athletic shoes and stylish dress shoes for women, men and children.”
Sole Dimensions also carries orthotics, arch supports and other foot care and sports accessories. Additionally, Penner offers video gait analysis, foot assessments and comprehensive plans to improve customers’ ability to walk, run and move pain-free.
Penner, who has worked as a pedorthist for more than 30 years, recently joined the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatric Association, which shares new and advanced information on the latest techniques in children’s foot and ankle care.
“People should really know their foot type,” explained Penner. “We get our foot type from our parents and we give our foot type to our children, so it’s important to know this information to make the appropriate choices in shoes and foot care products. By being proactive we can help remedy foot issues.”
Penner opened Sole Dimensions in 2009, and the store is the only professionally staffed retail pedorthic facility in the greater Raleigh area.
“We have helped customers from all over North Carolina as well as South Carolina and Virginia. We even have customers from as far away as Miami and Chicago,” Penner said.
